Summary- Brain Pop Jr. Video- Tally Charts & Bar Graphshttp://www.brainpopjr.com/math/data/tallychartsandbargraphs/ In this Brain Pop Jr. video, Annie and Moby are trying to decide where to go on their next class trip. They practice taking surveys of their classmates using a tally chart to decide what everyone’s favorite choice is. They then use their tally chart to create a bar graph to see what the favorite is!

  3. NYS Common Core Learning Standard • 1. MD.4 Organize, represent, and interpret data with up to three categories; ask and answer questions about the total number of data points, how many in each category, and how many more or less are in one category than another. • Annie and Moby created three categories for their classmates to choose from when practicing surveying and graphing. They showed us how to tally and total properly, what a bar graph is and how to create one, as well as, how to interpret their information in their bar graph.

  4. Pacing Principal • “Pacing is an example of controlling type of interactivity (Moreno & Meyer, 2007, p.319).” • “A simple way to allow students to control the pace of presentation of complex dynamic multimodal materials in computer-based learning is to include a Continue button on the computer screen (Moreno & Meyer, 2007, p.319).” • In this video, students have the opportunity to control the pace of the video. They are able to pause and go, go forward and backwards as needed. This helps students learn and understand at their own pace in a way that works best for them.
