Your Facebook Presence • How do you – Personally – want to interact or “show up” to the world? • Will both your Personal Profile and your Business Page be part of your marketing strategy?
Your Facebook Business Page • Set up • Name Your Page • Category • Administrators • Photo – Logo/Avatar/Custom Image • Company Info and Website
Add Content • Connect Blog (if you have one) using Social RSS App • Create Photo Albums • Categories for Albums – key services, specific projects etc. • Rule of thumb – add 3 pictures at a time • Add Videos (if you have them) • Rule of thumb – add 1 video at a time • Space out Content for max viewing • Create Posts • Add Value • Share Info • Promote Services/Specials
Get Fans • Invite friends of your Personal Profile through Facebook • Select only those who you want for your business audience • Promote Facebook Business Page • Website • Blog (Like or Share Apps) • Newsletter • Print Media (after you have custom URL – need 25 Fans)
Create Community • Find reasons for people to visit your page • Contest • Special content • Charity event promotion • Special “Deals” • Use Facebook as Page • Interact with your fans and friends and other businesses • Answer every comment to your wall if you can • “Like” other business pages
Facebook Places • Check to see whether Facebook has created a “Places” page for your business • If so merge them together
Your Personal Profile • Set STRONG password • Review Account Settings • Set Privacy Settings • Set Online Chat Status (I suggest “Off”) • Fix Limited News Feed View (see slide) • Create Lists of Friends • Make use of “Limited Profile”
Fix Limited News Feed View Here’s the Fix – Scroll to the bottom of your news feed and follow these steps
Customize Your Profile • Photo banner • Choose Photos you want or let FB randomize • Profile Photo • Personal Info • Make sure to link to FB Business Page • Apps • Status updates • Show your human side – within reason • Add Value • Demonstrate your expertise • Use list feature to post strategically
Build Community with your Personal Profile • Interact with others • Grow your network • Be friendly and supportive • Add value to your community • Share knowledge • Share humor • Share interesting current events • Be yourself • Treat people on Facebook the way you would treat them offline • Don’t alienate your audience (unless you don’t care) • Avoid posting controversial opinions/links about politics, religion and social issues unless it’s important to you to share them.
A word to the wise • Be smart and be aware – even with privacy settings never post anything that could damage your credibility • Don’t invite friends to use silly apps – better yet, don’t use silly apps yourself • Be vigilant for others posting to your wall – remove spam-ish app posts, and consider blocking those who do
Facebook Groups • Join Groups • Grow your network • Participate in groups • Build Credibility • Start your own group (down the road) • Add an information pipeline
Facebook Ads • Very targeted to specific demographic • Less expensive than PPC • Plan your campaign • Have a specific purpose for your ad • Drive traffic to FB Business Page or other landing page
Customized Facebook Page • Custom Graphic Banner/Photo • Custom Gateway with specific action • Like Page • Sign Up for Email Newsletter • Download something free
Use Facebook Effectively Visit Facebook often – don’t set and forget Update status – use both manual and auto-posting Add value to the community Look for opportunities to grow network Find other relevant pages to “like” Comment on relevant posts Interact with friends and page audience Keep an eye on your “real estate” Develop a Facebook Marketing strategy that fits your company
Remember… • The online world evolves – constantly!
Homework • Set up or Edit your Business Page details & add photo/logo • Start adding Content • Connect Blog via Social RSS, if you have a blog • Take at least one action to add more followers to your page • Edit Account Settings/Privacy Settings on Personal profile • Start creating Lists in your friends group
