TREx 3.6 • Planned Release July 2010 • Required for 2010-2011 School Year • Fully backwardly compatible with v 3.5. (3.5 XML files will load under 3.6)
TREx v 3.6 • New data elements & new codes will require the vendor to update the XML extract program.
TREx 3.6 • The City of the requesting campus added to the Inbound Request Screen. • New Broadcast Message appears on login • Transaction Report – faster performance
TREx v 3.6 • Warning messages on upload have been dropped for fields that do not apply to all students .
TREx v 3.6 New Data Elements • New federal ethnicity and race codes are required in 2010-2011 for students enrolled since 2009-2010.
TREx v 3.6 New Data Elements • Old Ethnicity codes will still be reported for students who graduated or withdrew prior to 2009-2010. • The old ethnicity value is described as “Ethnicity Code” , XML name “Race” on page 2.30 of the TREx Data Standards.
TREx v 3.6 – New Data Elements New Ethnicity/Race codes are reported as separate data elements, since students may report multiple selections.

TREx v 3.6 New Data Elements Unschooled Asylee / Refugee Indicates a student's initial enrollment in a school in the United States in grades 7 through 12 was as an unschooled asylee or refugee per TEC Section 39.027(a-1).

TREx v 3.6 Codes Added • Assessment Name Table – 60 codes added to identify the type of test taken for Student Records only Transcripts and SPEEDE files will still only show Exit Level tests by Subject only

TREx v 3.6 – Codes Added Withdrawal Reason code (TC23) – Definitions Added 88 Court-ordered to a GED program, has not earned a GED 89 Incarcerated in a state jail or federal penitentiary as an adult
TREx v 3.6 – Codes Added 90 Graduated from another state under provisions of the Interstate Compact on Education Opportunity for Military Children
TREx v 3.6 - Code Changes Withdrawal Reason code (TC23) – Definitions updated 01 Graduated From A Campus In This District Or Charter 24 College, Pursue Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree
TREx V 3.6 Code Changes • Expelled For Offense Under TEC §37.007, Cannot Return Or No Immunization Record
TREx v 3.6 Code Changes • Not A Resident At Time Of Enrollment, Falsified Enrollment, No Proof Of Identification, Or No Immunization Record • Graduated Outside Texas Before Entering A Texas Public School- Entered A Texas Public School-Left Again
TREx v 3.6 Code Changes • Course Category – 2 codes changed to align with the AAR Minimum Standards. ECFE Economics /Free Enterprise (was EC and FE) CTE Career Technical Education (was CT)
XML Data Elements Required vs Recommended • The vendor extract must be able to populate all data elements in the schema. • There are 12 mandatory data elements that are enforced by the XML Schema. The XML file will not load if these fields are not populated.
TREX Required vs Recommended • The schema cannot enforce all required fields because : Some elements are required for the transcript but not the student record. Example: Graduation Date
TREx Required vs Recommended Some data elements are required for certain student populations, but are not relevant for all students. Example: Special Education or Disciplinary Action These data elements are still required if applicable
TREx Required vs Recommended Recommended data elements have been recommended by district focus groups or requested by colleges and universities Should be included in the XML file if the data is available. Example: TAKS Scores
TREx Required vs Recommended TREx Data Standards v 3.6 Appendix A has been updated with the following indicators for each data element. Mandatory Common data element for all record types and all students. Required to load the TREx XML file.
TREx Required vs Recommended Required by TEC Required by state law where applicable for the record type or the individual student. Recommended Should be included in the XML file If the data is available
