  2. A Good Disciple... (2 Kings 2) • A good disciple follows (1-2, 4, 6) Luke 9:23; John 12:26; Proverbs 23:23

  3. Luke 9:23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Jesus to his disciples, after noting the eventuality of his own suffering and death (vs. 21-22).

  4. John 12:26 If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor. Jesus, again within the context of his eventual death, and further glorification.

  5. Proverbs 23:23 Buy the truth, and do not sell it, Also wisdom and instruction and understanding. Jesus has the truth – we should be following Him, as His servants (disciples) ...

Luke 14:26-27 If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. 27 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. Jesus, after parable of the Great Supper (vs. 15-24)

  8. 1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful. Paul, after proclaiming himself and his companions to be “servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.” (1) Faithful to Christ, not men (3-5)

  12. 2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.

  13. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

  14. Conclusion Are you a good disciple? If the Lord were to come today, would you hear... ... “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord” (Matthew 25:23)
