UNECE EECCA Indicator Guidelines Presentindicators • Protected areas (No 17); • Forest and other wooden land (No18); • Threatened and protected species (No 19); • Trends in the number and distribution of protected species (No 20); • Land uptake (No 21); • BOD and concentration of nutrients in rivers (No13); • Nutrients in freshwater (No 14); • Nutrients in coastal seawaters (No 15).

  4. Newly proposed indicators • Biosphere reserves and wetlands of international importance; • Invasive alien species; • Catches of fish and other aquatic animals, aquatic animal products and aquatic plants.

International context - 1 • UN Convention on Biological Diversity (UN CBD), • the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance especially as Waterfowl Habitat (Ramsar Convention), • Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats (Bern Convention), • the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, • the Bonn Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals, • the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES),
