  4. Final Catalina Update 2013 There are people on the waiting list. If you can not go, please let Ms. Finzer/Mr. Joshu know ASAP! Turn ALL paperwork into Ms. Finzer or Mr. Joshu ASAP!

  5. Final Catalina Update 2013 This is not your vacation! This a field trip and you need to act accordingly. Help make this trip enjoyable for everyone. The Chaperones are giving up valuable time to make this trip happen.

  6. Final Catalina Update 2013 This trip is about snorkeling in the cold Pacific Ocean with seals, sharks, and fish. We are not going to sun on the beach. There will be some “playtime” but you cannot go anywhere outside of the dorms without a chaperone escort

  7. Behavior 1. No leaving your room after curfew. 2. No males in girls’ rooms and visa versa. 3. Quiet after curfew - 9 pm. 4. Respect others feelings and property. 5. Clean up after yourself. 6. Follow directions promptly.

  8. Travel: • Be in the parking lot at Dobson in front of the Science Department at 11:30 pm on Thursday, September 26, 2013. • Make sure you have an ID with you. • Also, have the YELLOW ID tags attached to the handle of all of your bags.

  9. Packing: • Please pack wisely knowing you must carry all of your luggage together for some distance. • Bring only ONE duffel bag / rolling suitcase and your backpack for snacks on the bus and boat. • A pillow and blanket on the bus may make napping more comfortable.

  10. Lunch/Snacks • Bring a nutritious lunch and snacks for all day Friday only. • Our first served meal is Friday evening dinner at 5:30pm. • Do not bring extra food to the island. There is plenty of food at meals and food in the rooms brings ants and other biting things.

  11. Lunch/Snacks Dietary requirement? Vegan? Food allergies? We need to know ASAP! Does anyone have motion sickness? If you get carsick/seasick or aren’t sure if you might, bring some anti-motion sickness medication (non-drowsy) just in case. (Meclizine, Dramamine, Bonine, etc.) – take at breakfast.

  12. What To Bring • Bath towel • Beach towel • Flashlight • long pants • Swimsuits (2) • Jacket • Rain coat or poncho, • Hat for sun protection • Water bottle • Sleeping bag • Pillow • Sunscreen, • Sandals (shoes must be worn at all times) • Plastic bag for wet clothes.

  13. What To Bring Optional: Camera Underwater camera. IMPORTANT NOTE: Water and electricity are both “rationed”, one 5-minute shower a day – plan your showers around snorkeling time.

  14. Do Not Bring: • Anything you value - MP3 players, cell phones and jewelry. • The rooms are always unlocked and we are not the only school on the island.

  15. Phone Home? There is no cell coverage on the island.

  16. Extra Money • You will need money for Breakfast Friday, and Sunday dinner, snacks, and water. • You may need money for T-shirts/sweatshirts etc. at CIMI store (CIMI logo).

  17. Medical • Each student must bring their prescribed medications with them to the camp. • Bee allergies – have your epi-pen! Find your “zen” • Asthmatics cannot participate in program activities (like snorkeling) unless they have their inhalers with them!!!

  18. CIMI Rules • Do not take anything from the beach • Never leave the dorm area without a chaperone • Quiet after curfew • Clean-up after yourself – if you see litter, pick it up • Be at meal and activities line-up on time – if your are late, we all are late • Your toes cannot touch the water if an instructor from our group is not present as a life guard

  19. Finally: • Get a good night sleep Wednesday – it might be quite a while before bedtime Friday night • Don’t take a chance on being late!! We will leave without you! • Have someone phone you at 10:30 Thursday night?
