Warm up (5 minutes) • 2. Introduce film/tape film notes into ESL notebook (5 minutes) • 3. finish Through the Lens film note taking (15 minutes) • 4. Partner Summary writing (20 minutes)

  3. Through the Lens • Complete film notes page while you view the film • Always be thinking… DISCOVERY! • Film notes & summaries will be checked tomorrow by Ms. Anna

  4. Partner Summary • Find a partner who will support you, work hard and be respectful • Use your film notes to write a paragraph summary of “Through The Lens” • Summary should include the word discovery, the story of 1 photographer or more, and why photography is important to discovery.

  10. A traditional form of Japanese poetry • Follows a 5-7-5 syllable pattern • Usually about nature • Example: • The Rose Donna Brock The red blossom bends and drips its dew to the ground. Like a tear it falls • A love (or hate) letter written to the person or object • Includes the 5 senses (very descriptive) • Begins with “Oh ______” or “Ode to __________” • Example: • Ode To Cheese, Which Makes Us Smile, When Camera's go Clack.Ode To Cheese, Which make us taste, The greatest of flavors, the wackiest of whack Haiku Ode

  11. Directions • Draft either 1 sonnet, 1 ode or 2 haikus • Include 1 simile, 1 metaphor, 1 hyperbole or allusion • When you finish your poem • Edit/revise it with a partner • Draft a new poem of a different type
