LHC Schottky Post LS1 • Controls • Replacement for GPIB? • Addition of new gates • Will require update of BQS control class • Acquisition – still based on BBQ class (same as for tune?) • Typically 1 or 2 spectra per plane & beam per minute • Property = “Setting” • acqState = ON / OFF • acqPeriod = nbOfTurns/2 (min = 2048) • nbOfTurns = 128,256,512,1024,2048,4096,8192,16384,32768,65536 • windowFunction = choice of FFT windowing function • Property = “ ExpertSetting” • magnitudeAveragingFactor = value between 0 and 1 (1 being no averaging and 1/N being averaging over N spectra) • Property = “SummaryMeasurement” • averageMagnitudeH – the horizontal FFT data array to be displayed and processed • averageMagnitudeV – the vertical FFT data array to be displayed and processed • acqStamp – the timestamp of the acquisition • nbOfTurns – the number of turns used to produce the spectra. The dimension size of the averageMagnitudeH and averageMagnitudeV arrays shoud be (nbOf Turns / 2).
LHC Schottky Post LS1 • Propose to move processing from Deamon (LAFS/FNAL) to FESA class (BE/BI) • Sets acquisition parameters • Control settings, gates, averaging,… • Retrieves data from front-end • Performs fits • Extracts beam parameters • Tune, chromaticity, dp/p, emittance • Sends to logging • Provides fitted data to higher level GUI • EDMS document currently being written to cover requirements for control, acquisition and processing
