  1. Suppose you had a slide like this • Yes, it’s hideous. Hush. • The buttons below are on the master so they appear on every slide • That’s fine, but the Home button is a link to the first slide in the presentation • This IS the first slide in the presentation • So how do we hide the button on this one slide?

  2. Draw a rectangle to cover the unwanted, unloved button

  3. Doubleclick the rectangle to open the Formatting dialog box

  4. On the Colors and Lines tab open the Fill Color dropdown list, choose Background

  5. And you’re done! • We’ve left the rectangle’s outline visible. You’ll want to set it to None on your slides.

  6. Background Fill Notes • As you move the Background-filled shape, it takes on the color of the background it sit atop. Very cool. • It works nicely with gradients and texture fills, ok with patterns but not with picture fills • It only works with the fill from the slide background (ie, not graphics on the background)
