WHAT IS TITLE 1? • Title 1 is a federally funded grant program designed for students expressing difficulty meeting grade level academic standards and/or passing State Academic Achievement Tests. (MEAP) • Title 1 is allocated to schools based on the percentage of students receiving free/reduced lunch. • Schools with a percentage of at least 40% are eligible for a school wide program. • Pinconning Central Elementary is a school wide program. Our free/reduced percentage is 65%.
WHO QUALIFIES FOR TITLE 1 Students who are struggling academically and are below benchmark for their grade level on DIBELS (Reading) and STAR (Math). Students who performed below grade level on the MEAP. Students NOT certified for Special Education and teacher recommendation.

Four (4) days a week for 30 minutes our identifiedstudents receive intervention supportto work on deficit areafrom a paraprofessional in a small group setting. The intervention lesson is designed by the Title I teacher. Paraprofessionals are assigned a grade level and offer classroom support for the other half of the day. For the past few years our school has been able to offer an “Extended Year” program which is a 20 day (based on funding) summer school.

STUDENT/PARENT/SCHOOL COMPACT STUDENT AGREEMENT It is important that I work to the best of my ability. I shall do the following: PARENT/GUARDIAN I want my child to achieve. PARENT ENGAGEMENT POLICY WILL TAKE THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS TO: 1. Involve parents in the joint development and joint agreement of its Parental Engagement Policy and its school wide plan, if applicable, in an organized, ongoing, and timely way under Section 1118(b) of the ESA. • Distribute to parents of participation children and the local community the Parental Engagement Policy.
Will periodically update its Parental Engagement Policy to meet the changing needs of parents and the school through: Parent Input, Regular Title I Meetings, and Staff Meetings. • Will convene an annual meeting to inform parents of requirements of Title I and of their rights. • Will hold flexible number of meetings at varying times, and may provide transportation, child care, and/or home visits, paid for the Title I funding as long as these services relate to parental involvement.
Will provide parents of participating children with a description and explanation of the curriculum in use at the school, the forms of academic assessment used to measure student progress, and the proficiency levels students are expected to meet through: Annual Title I Meeting, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and Family Nights throughout the year.
