1. Olympics Results 2008 The 2008 Beijing Olympics was a truly eye-opening experience for the Western world —from both a sports and cultural perspective. From Michael Phelps’ record-shattering performance, to the thrilling results of our own athletes like Eric Lamaze and the men’s eight rowing team, the games were a daily fixture of the Sympatico-MSN portal. With up-to-the-minute results and reporting, news sourced from both Canadian and international sources, daily photo galleries and video reports, our Beijing 2008 coverage offered ample ways to track the games and stay abreast of breaking news. And to reflect the experiential side of the games, we dispatched Chinese-Canadian reporter (and member of the Sympatico-MSN content team) Cynthia Long to the games to provide her dual perspective in a daily blog. Cynthia’s blog gathered 100,000 page views and hundreds of comments throughout the Olympics and was an example of our commitment to exclusive content. We also hosted the Real Champions video series, 16 Days in Beijing with Steve Omishel, which offered a look at the games from the view of an athlete. Sympatico-MSN’s coverage of the Beijing Olympics was a huge success, garnering over 10 million page views. It also sets the stage for an even greater commitment of content and resources to the 2010 Vancouver-Whistler Olympics.
