  4. Courses offered(during 2 years in STEP)Mandatory Courses • Math Essentials 10, 11 • English 10, ECM 11, ECM 12 • Science 10 • Food Science 12 • Exploring Technology 10 • Production Technology • Canadian History 11 • Global Geography 11

Courses offered(during 2 years in STEP) cont. • Art 10 • PAL 11 _____________________________ Elective Credits • Workplace Health and Safety/Career Development 11 • Technical Reading and Writing (.5) • Skilled Trades 10 • Entrepreneurship 12 • Total – 16.5 (students need at least 18 credits to graduate)

  6. Options for year 3 • 2 co-op credits • Stay in STEP class and do course(s) for credit (e.g. Art 11 instead of Entrepreneurship or independent work like Oceans 11)

  7. Leaving Plan Possibilities • Apply one year early (after 2 years of STEP) to NSCC or other trades program– option for those who have ALWAYS known what they wanted to do • Apprenticeship out of high school • Military trades training • Work with plan to continue post secondary school in a year’s time

  8. NSCC admissions and applications • Students can apply when transcript shows most of their credits – past and future(beginning of Year 2) • Early application increases chance of acceptance for year desired • Acceptances are first come first served – begin first week of November

  9. NSCC admissions and applicationscont. • AFTER student is accepted, he/she has 3 weeks to send in $200 seat reservation (applied to tuition) or risk losing seats • Waitlists are now carried over to the following year
