What is expected in a research paper? • In a research paper, there should be an introduction, body—with at least 3 topics, and a conclusion. • A professor would expect the paper to be typed, clean, neat, and attractive. The essay should meet his requirements. Be aware of how your teacher will evaluate you essay. It is also important to proof read your paper. • Use a 12 point standard font, such as Times or Geneva. The text should be double spaced on 8.5 x 11 paper, with 1 inch margins. • There is a difference between scientific research papers and other research papers. A regular research paper has discussion, or they include materials after the body of the paper. Scientific doesn’t include the separate sections altogether, except for the abstract.
Can a brotha’ get some credit? • Plagiarism is known as an illegal offence where one uses another’s work as their own without the recognition of the former/original creator. • To research without plagiarism, you can easily site sources and give credit to whoever gave it to you to begin with! Either interpret the information given to justify the meaning of the work, or copy it down in quotes [giving it ownership to the original creator] and citing source-such as CitationMachine.org. • To help edit your final product before the final paper is turned in, you can reevaluate your information by a legitimate search engine such as google, don’t forget about spell check/grammar, retractable footnotes such as cliff notes, or read reference books to help back up your piece with additional information.
I mean… Its gotta’ look good! • The opening appearance of a presentation should have pictures/ videos, you know.. The “Ba Bam”! as Tammy Payne puts it. • There IS a difference between a research paper and a presentation. Research papers are boring and very detailed in their analysis when a presentation is Fun, eye popping, and talk about only the main highlights of a specific topic. • So big “NO-NO’s” during a presentation is nose picking, stuttering, and if your pants are not zipped. Also do not read everything on each slide, do not insult a persons intelligence by reading it to them. • Keep a constant theme ( background ) and do not do a lot of different “Fly-ins.”
