  5. Discussion Questions • Was Matthias inferior to the other apostles? Why or why not? • No, like them in every way (look at the qualifications in Acts 1) except he was not directly called by Jesus to be an apostle.

  6. Discussion Questions • Why do you think there so many legends and stories about these apostles? • These were the foundations of the Christian Church cf. Ephesians 2:19-20. People would get curious because there is so little information about them in the Bible. • As we conclude our study of the apostles, what about them remind us of ourselves? • They have our same faults and good traits.

  7. Reminder • “Tradition, however, an unfaithful and uncertain preserver of character and events it may be, is rarely an inventor.” • There is usually some shred of truth in these legends from people closer in time to the apostles than we are.

  8. Discussion Questions • What makes you cringe a little? • Our same faults • What makes you rejoice? • In spite of the faults, Jesus used them as his apostles, chosen for a special purpose.

  9. Two Questions • Are you similar to any of the apostles? • See any reason why Jesus would choose these men?
