  1. MY FAMILY TRADITIONS AND CELEBRATIONS BY Katarina Pantelic Multimediaprojects

  2. Members of my family In my house there live six 6 members. They are my mother, father, sister, grandfather, grandmother and myself.

  3. Family Origins • My mother's family come from a place near Valjevo, known as Pasina Ravan, but they live here, in Valjevo.

  4. Family Origins My father's parents come from Kotesica, which is very near Valjevo, but they live in our house in Valjevo. They moved to Valjevo in search for a job 50 years ago.

  5. Family Routines • Mu mum shops for food, makes breakfast and does housework alone. After that she goes to work and she works as a supermarket assistant. • My father works rarely, when he finds some work, because he is a waiter and he does not have a full time job. He doesn't help my mum with housework because he is a traditional Serbian man.

  6. Family Routines My sister is in Belgrade now. She studies there, so she goes to the faculty where she has lectures every day. After that she goes to the canteen. Before she starts studying, she calls me and we talk a lot.

  7. Family Routines • We don’t have plans for summer in advance. If we decide to go to the sea or anywhere, we just do it. My sister and I usually go together with friends somewhere.

  8. Family traditions My parents wedding took place in the registry office and only for a small group of people. My mother didn’t wear a wedding dress. It was a civilian wedding. I would like to have a big wedding with a lot of people and a big fancy dress.

  9. Family traditions The celebration for my eighteenth birthday won’t be something spectacular for others, but it will be spectacular for me because I will be with my closest friends and family.

  10. Family traditions That special night, when my generation celebrates graduation, is something that I am looking forward to. I would like to have a nice dress, a specialhair style and high heels, and be like an adult person, at least for a moment.

  11. Religious and national holidays Our Saint’s Day is on 9th january, the third day of Christmas. It’s Saint Stephen. For that day my mother and grandmother make a lot of different dishes. Sarma is a Serbian traditional dish, made from sour cabbage and minced meat, which everyone likes to eat. My parents don’t have many guests, but there are a lot of my sisters'and my guests.

  12. Religious and national holidays On Christmas we have breakfast together and the main dish is a roast pig. I don’t like it very much, especially because we have it for our Saint’s Day, too. My grandmother puts a coin in a special Christmas bread, which everybody breaks off and it is usually me who is lucky to find the coin. The coin is supposed to bring good luck. After breakfast, my mother, sister and myself go to our mother's father. He puts six coins in the bread, just as my grandmother used to do for every grandchild before she died.

  13. Religious and national holidays On 1st May, Labour Day, I go with my friends to the countryside and we make barbecue. We stay awake all night eating, drinking, talking, singing, listening to music, laughing and joking.
