E N D
CNAS • An exchange program that engages faculty and students from six universities in North America, CNAS provides students with one-semester or full-year exchanges at partner universities that offer courses and experiential learning opportunities in Civil Society and Sustainable Communities.
Mission • The mission of the program is to provide students with the incentive and knowledge to engage local and North American issues affecting the evolution of sustainable communities. Students who travel as part of this program develop a comparative and integrated understanding of the larger regional problems affecting local long term environmental, social, cultural, and economic well being.
Participants • Probe how local and North American issues intersect to shape a regionally focused civil society and sustainable community. • Participate in experiential learning at local organizations and agencies. • Cross borders, working collaboratively to solve problems.
What to do? • Students may earn a six-institution certificate in Sustainable Communities and Environment by completing a consortium online course in sustainability, the exchange semester with community-based research project, demonstration of cross-cultural appreciation (through coursework and exchange), use of appropriate research methodology (supported by coursework as appropriate), and at least two additional courses related to sustainability issues.
