ENABLING LEARNING OBJECTIVE B Determine Departure, Destination, and Alternate Weather Requirements IAW AR 95-1, DoD FLIP, and AR 3-04.240.
DeparturePlanning • Current conditions at time of departure. • Pilot flying the aircraft at Take-Off determinesrequirements. • More than 50 hours Wx time as PC • 0 - 0 • Less than 50 hours Wx time as PC • 100 – ¼ (Helicopter) • Non-standard requirements must be applied.
Use Table of Contents to ….. • Determine if IFR Take-Off, (OBSTACLE) Departure Procedures are listed for your departure airfield. (Non-Standard Requirements)
Destination Planning Weather Forecast Predominant Weather Ceiling and Visibility Requirements Forecast Valid Times Area Forecast
IFR Requirements Destination Approach Procedure 1/4
Alternate Airfield Required? • Radar Required • Navigational Aids Unmonitored • Predominant Weather Less Than: • Ceiling 400 Feet Above Planning Minimums • Visibility 1 Mile greater than required after reduction by 50%. • Exception - Not required if descent from enroute minimum altitude, approach, and landing can be made in VFR conditions
Alternate Airfield Required? Destination Approach Procedure 1/4 400 - 1 600 - 1 1/4
AlternatePlanning Weather Forecast Worst Weather Ceiling Visibility Requirements Forecast Valid Times Area Forecast
Alternate Airfield Selection • Worst Weather. • Ceiling 400 Feet above required. • Visibility 1 Mile greater than required after reduction by 50%.
Alternate Selection Alternate Airfield Approach Procedure 1/4 400 - 1 600 - 1 1/4
A Alternate Airfield Selection WILL NOT be selected if….. • Not Authorized ( NA ) • Radar Required • Navigational Aids Unmonitored • B, C, D, or E Surface Area not in effect • GPS • Exception – May be used if descent from enroute minimum altitude, approach, and landing can be made in VFR conditions
ENABLING LEARNING OBJECTIVE C Determine additional sources of weather Information after flight planning IAW AR 95-1, DoD FLIP, and FM 3-04.240.
