Welcome Engineering Graphics - Lect 6
Last lecture over view • What is an involute ???
Tangent and normal • To draw tangent and normal to the involute at any point on th involute.
Bisect this line and get a centre of the line and mark it as C.
With C as a centre draw a semicircle passing through P’. This semicircle cuts the main circle at point R.
Join point R with the P’, this will be the normal to the given curve.
Draw a line perpendicular to the normal line, to get a tangent line to the curve.
Homework • A thin triangular equilateral plate of 20 mm side pinned at its centroid O. An elastic string circumscribes complete perimeter of plate one end of string is attached to the one of the apex of plate. Draw the curve traced by other end of string keeping it tight when the string is unwounded.
