2. Monday, February 13th • Fill in your planner block. • Complete the limerick activity on your desk. • 5th period take out your notes so I am able to explain your bell work to you. • Notice the change in dates: Your poetry test is tomorrow instead of Wednesday.

3. Tuesday, February 14th • Happy Valentine’s Day!! • Fill in your planner block. • Study your poetry notes for the next five minutes.

4. Wednesday, February 15th • Fill in your planner block. • It is VERY important that you keep up with the due dates on your packet that will be handed out today. • Make a list of author’s craft elements that you remember from past lessons.

5. Thursday, February 16th • Fill in your planner block. • Get with our assigned literature circle group and discuss your vocabulary homework. • First sit SILENTLY and get out your literature circle packet. NO TALKING UNTIL I TELL YOU TO! • It is very important that you talk one at a time and hear what the vocabulary words mean.

6. Notebook Check: No talking, this is a quiz! • What was the EQ on February 2nd? • What was the homework on January 9th? • According to your MLA resource (# 7), how should you format a parenthetical citation? • What is the answer to #1 on your research quiz, which is # 3 on your running list. • Write down the first idiom on your idiom sheet. • When finished turn it into the tray and start a new running list. (Name, date, class period, number it)

Friday, February 17th • Fill in your planner block. • Title: Diction • Look at the following passage from Crispin and rewrite it taking out the vivid diction, while making it BORING!!!! “Stunned, I lay upon the decaying earth, fingers clutching rotting leaves, a cold rain drenching me. As daylight faded, I was entombed in a world darker than any night could bring.”

Wednesday, February 21st • Fill in your planner block. • Title: Cast Out • Think of a time when you were cast out… • How old were you? • Where were you? • What happened to make you feel this way? • Who was involved in making your feel outcast or different? • How did you express your feelings? • Who or what helped you get through this time? • What did you learn from this? • What advice would you give someone who is feeling cast out or different from others? • Answer the above questions in paragraph format.

Bear uses crows to infer that something is going to happen. Look at the below animals and their actions to infer what the animal or nature is telling you: • Your dog is barking… • A rooster crows • A ground hog comes out in the winter • A daffodil blooms • The leaves on the trees turn red and yellow • A cat or dog’s coat grows thicker • Rabbit runs under a brush • Now think of two examples of your own.
