History • Founded in 1992 by the governments of the EU, Japan, the USA and Russia; operations began in 1994 in Moscow • Norway, S. Korea and Canada joined as Funding Parties • Headquarters in Moscow with Branch Offices in Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakstan, Kirgyzstan and Tajikistan • In 2003, ISTC underwent a strategic review and major reorganization
10 Years of Accomplishment • PROLIFIC - > 58,000 scientists engaged in Russia/CIS, and > USD 600 Mill. in funding over 10 years of operation through 2000 projects • UNIQUE -37 nations engaged in cooperative technology development, and growing… • RESPECTED - Intergovernmental organization with status of diplomatic mission • CLEAN - Legal, audited, effective, & transparent mechanism

Main Activity: Projects • Science Project Program • -Sponsored by EU, USA, JPN, Canada, Korea • -Institutions from sponsor regions participate as collaborators • Partner Project Program • -A Financing Partner to the ISTC covers 100% of the Project expenses • -A Partner’s specific technology needs are satisfied • By Sept 2004, the ISTC has financed over 2000 projects for $600 million at over 700 CIS institutes
