  3. Baltimore Boat Capsizes; 4 Feared DeadSquall of wind blamed in accident

  4. The storm • Evening, Jesus sent the crowds home, disciples and Jesus got into a boat • Mark 4:35-37

  5. Disciples woke Jesus • Mark 4:38 • Jesus was asleep in the boat • He was a real man • Got tired just like we do • Disciples couldn’t understand why Jesus was asleep • “Don’t you care?” • Of course he cared about them!

  6. Jesus calmed the storm • What could Jesus do about the storm? • Mark 4:39 • Jesus is God • Created the sea and the wind • Who created the water? • Who opened the Red Sea for the Israelites? • Colossians 1:16 • Mark 4:40 • Mark 4:41 • They had never seen Jesus do anything like this!

  7. The demon-possessed man • Mark 5:1-4 • Evil spirits were harming him • Satan trying to destroy him • Mark 5:5 • Trying to hurt himself • Trapped by Satan • John 3:16 • Jesus can free people like this

  8. The demons knew Jesus • Mark 5:6-7 • Demons knew that Jesus was their Creator • Feared Jesus would send them to Lake of Fire

  9. Jesus commanded the demons to come out • Mark 5:8-9 • Satan is the master of the demons • Mark 5:10 • Demons know that one day they will finally be under Jesus’ authority

  10. The demons entered the pigs • Mark 5:11-14 • Pigs drowned • Demons did not die • Not their final punishment (yet)

  11. A liberated man • Mark 5:15 • Set free from the power of demons • Now under God’s authority

  12. Foolish people • Mark 5:16-17 • Foolish • Didn’t want Jesus to stay • Why? • Loved pigs more than people!

  13. A man with a message • Mark 5:18-20 • Wanted to go with Jesus • “Go home…tell them” • I too was once under Satan’s control!

  14. Conclusion • John 8:36 • Nothing is too hard for God • If he freed this man, He can free you!
