Moses called up into the mountain • God had given His ten commandments • He didn’t want His people to forget the commandments • God wrote His commandments on stone • Exodus 24:12
Joshua went with Moses • Exodus 24:13-18 • Joshua was Moses’ assistant
God told Moses to build the tabernacle • God gave the ten commandments on stone • God gave other rules and customs too • Obey = God’s blessing • Disobey = punishment -> death • God knew they were sinners • God wanted a special place where He could live with His people • Exodus 25:1-8 • Where would they get the things to make the tabernacle?
Exact instructions • Exodus 25:9 • Tabernacle = “tent, dwelling place, or home” • It had to be built exactly • Did Cain follow God’s exact instructions? • Did Noah follow God’s exact instructions? • They had to carry the tabernacle to the promised land • Light, portable • Made of animal skins and goat hair
The Holy of Holies • The first room – the holy place • God is set apart from sinners • Only God’s chosen priests could enter • Only used when serving God • The second room – most holy place • Only high priest could enter • Only once per year • God’s presence was in this room

Conclusion • The Israelites were sinners, needed God’s mercy • So do we! • God made a way for them to come to Him • God will only accept His way of coming to Him
