  3. Population and Age of District Five Residents • Population: • District Five – 36,052 a 6.6% decline from 1990 • City of Pittsburgh – 333,527, a 9.8% decline from 1990

Housing Stock • Housing Units: • District Five – 17,398 • 16,223 (93.4%) Occupied • 5,447 (64.9%) Owner Occupied • 9,566 (35.1%) Renter Occupied • 2,578 (6.6%) Vacant • City of Pittsburgh – 163,414 • 143,786 (88%) Occupied • 74,770 (52%) Owner Occupied • 69,016 (48%) Renter Occupied • 19,628 (12%) Vacant • Nearly 50% of the Housing Units were built before 1939 (50% for the City)

Education Levels in District Five • 9.7% do not have a High School Diploma, lower than the City’s average of 18.7% • 62.6% of District Five Residents have at least a High School Degree, which is higher than the City’s average of 49% • 28.1% have earned a Bachelor's Degree or higher, which is higher the City’s average of 13% percent
