  1. The Shadow of the Cross “Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God” (Matt. 27:54, KJV).

  2. They Watched Him There • The story of the crucifixion teaches us much about human nature, ours included. • Many, from diverse backgrounds, saw these events. • Each saw the same things, but responded differently. • Look at a few who were touched by this event.

  3. Barabbas – The Undeserving • Mark 15:6-15 • What did Barabbas to with the gift of life and grace? • He continued with his old life. Rom. 6:20f • Filled with guilt, he tried to earn the gift, Titus 3:5; I Peter 1:18-19 • Filled with gratitude, he accepted it, Rom. 8:1-3
