Jilbay Bin (Becoming Clever) • Our Vision • To improve community support, education, cultural awareness, health, to create a common link between children and the wider community by encouraging and nurturing their future ambitions. • Our Goals • To provide support by helping family’s engage in their children’s education. • To provide a common link between Parents, the education system and the wider community. • Support cultural activities and awareness that build motivation and opportunities for our next generation. • Support Parents and caregivers by providing workshops to help them succeed, understand, encourage the importance of their children's education.

  10. PaCE pathway events form partnerships with the aim to gain trust and commitment in the community.

  11. National Indigenous Children’s Day celebrations a success through community support engaging parents, caregivers and elders in one of the most beautiful and unique culture’s in the world. We aim to create opportunity to help our children of the future excel in Education by guiding them to strive confidently with the belief that their dreams and goals are achievable with support, dedication and commitment

  12. Voluntary Workshops for Deportment and Grooming, Catwalk, singing, island dancing and aboriginal dancing have been conducted by community for parents/caregivers and children to attend. I believed that confidence and training with life skills was imperative with statistics pointing out Innisfail’s high teenage suicide rate. Insight to possible careers in different areas has been a great success giving our children a glimpse of what is possible along side a good education. These workshops have increased attendance at our local schools.

  13. Jilbay Bin Homework Centre Jillbay Bin Home Work Centre Our Homework centre was formed after several meetings and workshops. Such as basic computer skills, ready reader program, blue card application etc… to equip Parents/Caregivers and a few secondary school seniors with the training to Volunteer at the centre for Primary School aged children. After liaising with the community and Principle’s it was decided that the importance of support in helping parents and caregivers gain knowledge in how to help their children was an imperative necessity. The centre has been successful and will continue through 2013 with the aim to open multiple centres for Secondary students as well.

  15. Mamu Alphabet Book JilbayPaCE Program, elders and community have had several meetings in regards to creating an alphabet book with english word’s and MaMU word’s to be used as a resource in our local schools taking ownership and keeping culture in our community.
