Jesus Was Promised to Us……………………………...……Isaiah 9:6-7 Jesus Saves Us………………………………………..Matthew 1:18-21 Jesus Is With Us……………………………………....Matthew 1:22-25 Discover Deeper Meaning In Isaiah 7:14, the prophet Isaiah stated that as a sign to King Ahaza virgin would bear a son to be named Immanuel, which means “God [is] with us.” In Isaiah 8:7-8, God told the prophet that Assyria would plunge Judah into extreme difficulty. When that happened, the people’s only hope would be to cry out to “Immanuel” as a recognition of God’s judgment and as a plea for Him to be present in deliverance. Matthew quoted Isaiah 7:14 and applied the name Emmanuel to Jesus, thus stating that in Jesus, God was present among the people He came to save. As Immanuel, Jesus is more than a sign of God’s presence; Jesus is God in person. This truth sheds light on Jesus’ words to Philip in John 14:9: “He that hath seen me hath seen the Father.”
