About Mrs. Murach… • Grew up in Westfield, NJ • Undergraduate- St. Joseph’s University- Philadelphia, PA • MA Ed. and TSWD certificate from The College of St. Elizabeth- Morristown, NJ in May 2009 • 1st grade at FAS • Resource Room at RAS • Special Education at MS • 3rd grade at RAS
Character Education Focus on 6 character traits throughout the year. September: RESPECT
Behavior & Discipline Policy • Establish discipline policies as a class • Rules are posted in the classroom for the entire year • DUDES Tickets (Doers of Unique Deeds of Excellence) : school-wide incentive program • Sticker charts- 10 stickers= prize box
Homework • Homework is assigned Monday-Thursday • Approximately 30 min to complete homework - not including 20+ min of reading time each night (Rhino Reading) • HW folder and agenda- take home each night and return to school each morning. • Missed homework- Incomplete HW Note • Website (subject to change) _______________________________________________ **Please sign and return Homework Policy after discussing it with your child**

Grading and Report Cards • Four marking periods • Graded in: -LA-reading, writing, grammar, spelling, speaking (not 1st M.P.) -Math- computation, number facts, concepts, strategies for solving word problems -Science -Social Studies -Work Habits- listening, organization, participation, preparation, time management, cooperation, independence
