  2. Whatis SRS? • An opportunity to applywhatyou have learned in a research setting/project • NOT a ‘Blow-off’ class! • Flexible schedule • Great for transcript! Can help youget in choicecolleges!

Expectations • Regularattendance: both in class and atresearch site • Attend BVSD Roche Colorado Regional Science Fair (Tuesday, Feb. 22nd, 2010)…Mandatory! • Attend BVSD Roche Colorado Science ResearchSeminar (Friday, April 29th, 2010)…Mandatory! • Mentor budding science students (5 hrs.) • Help elementary and middelschoolstudentscreate science projects; Science presentations • Judge science fairs • Participate in middle school symposium

Expectations • Maintain a data book (graded a few times a year) • Create a Poster of yourresearch • Create a PowerPoint of yourresearch • Create a Paper of yourresearch • Complete ISEF and liabilitypaperwork • Complete Weekly Progress Reports • Read a Science book eachsemester (list to begiven out soon…)

  5. Grade • Grade based on: • 50%Internship (Research poster, PowerPoint, Paper) • 20% Data Book • 10%Weekly Meetings (progress reports and class activities/presentations) • 20%OtherActivities (paperwork, competitions, book reports) • Final- 1st Sem= first half of PowerPoint (presentation), Poster and Paper and databook; 2nd Sem= Final PowerPoint (presentation), Poster and Paper; final databook and exit interview

  6. What’sNext? • SummerHomework= 1st part finish by Friday (Aug. 20th) • SummerHomework Part 2 (due TBA) • Work on placements (due TBA) and first round of paperwork (due Aug. 27th, 2010) • First SRS Discussion Board entry (due Aug. 20th)- SRS Introduction 2010
