The first lacrosse stick. • Lacrosse was invented by the Native Americans and they played lacrosse a long time ago. They used lacrosse sticks that look like the lacrosse stick in the picture bellow and a solid rubber ball also in the picture bellow. The lacrosse stick used by Native Americans.
How the lacrosse stick has changed over time. Lacrosse sticks have changed in in many ways. One of the ways is that lacrosse sticks are made different types of metal. There are still wooden lacrosse sticks, but they are more efficient.
Lacrosse Stick Heads • The net or head of the lacrosse stick has changed in too. With newer, strong, and even easier to use heads have helped lacrosse players to catch and throw.
Brine • Brine was founded in 1922 and sold lacrosse and soccer equipment. • In the 1950’s Brine started to explore the idea of making lacrosse sticks. • In the 1970’s Brine tried to make a lacrosse stick that would last long and they found a real strong plastic called Surlynwhich would last longer than some of the other materials that they used.
W.H. Brine • W.H. Brine Company was founded in 1922 • Brine sold his products to private schools and camps. • In the 1950’s Brine worked on lacrosse sticks. • In the 1960’s Brine started making soccer balls and related equipment. • Brine was the first company to cover a soccer ball with synthetic leather to increase durability. • In the 1970’s Brine developed a durable long lasting lacrosse stick made out of Surlyn, a plastic developed by DuPont. • Bill Brine one of W.H. Brine’s family members left the Brine company and started a company called Cascade which is the largest lacrosse helmet company in the world. • In the 1990’s his company started to make volleyball equipment. • In 2000, Brine started selling field hockey equipment. • In 2003 Brine his started to make lacrosse helmets. Brine sold his company in 2006 to New Balance.
First Brine stick. • I think that their first head was made from wood, but I can’t be sure. I could not find out what the head was called or what it looked like, but based on prior knowledge I do think it was made from wood. I could not find any pictures of the lacrosse stick.
Modern Brine heads. • Brine has been coming out with new lacrosse stick heads over the years and these new heads are lighter, easier to catch and throw with. One of Brine’s new heads.
