  1. Tutorial 1: Step-by-Step Guide to Create a Weather News Report shop@shopk12.com

  2. BEFORE YOU START… 1 Make sure the NewsMaker application is installed. This tutorial will not be able to cover every function in the software, but it will provide you with enough basics to explore the other functions yourself. For technical assistance, please send us an email via www.NewsMaker.TV. 2 3

  3. In this tutorial, you will be Creating a Weather News Report

  4. SIGN IN Launch the NewsMaker application. Sign in with your username and password. NOTE: If you do not already have a NewsMaker account, please go to www.NewsMaker.tv to register for a free account.

  5. CREATE A PROJECT Type in “Weather News” as the Project Name. (Optional) Type in the description for this project. Click on the CREATE button.

  6. ASSIGN PROJECT MEMBERS As this is an individual project, there is no need to add any other project members. Click on the OK button. NOTE: For school users, classes will be set up and students will be able to see their classmates listed as Collaborators and so they can add them to their projects as Project Members.

  7. CREATE A SEGMENT – SEGMENT 1 Click on the ADD button.

  8. CREATE A SEGMENT – SEGMENT 1 Type in “Countdown” as the SEGMENT NAME. Select TRAILERas the SEGMENT TYPE. Select yourself under ASSIGN TO and click on the OK button.

  9. SEGMENT 1 – TRAILER Select the “Countdown” trailer. Click on the BACKbutton to go back to SEGMENT LIST.

  10. CREATE A SEGMENT – SEGMENT 2 Click on the ADD button.

  11. CREATE A SEGMENT – SEGMENT 2 Type in “Introduction” as the SEGMENT NAME. Select WEBCAM RECORDING as the SEGMENT TYPE. Select yourself under ASSIGN TO and click on the OK button.

  12. SEGMENT 2 – WEBCAM RECORDING Type your text on the teleprompter (as shown). Click on the RECORD button to start recording. Click on the STOPbutton to end the recording. (Recording automatically stops if the text scrolls out of the teleprompter.) Click on the PLAY button to review the recording. Re-record if necessary. You may adjust the font size or scrolling speed on the teleprompter.

  13. SEGMENT 2 – WEBCAM RECORDING Select WEBCAM then select EXPRESSION, and add in the virtual fun effects – hat, glasses, mood (as shown). Explore! Resize and reposition the recorded video window (as shown). Select BACKGROUND and choose your desired background. Select LABEL and put in the labels as shown. Select SUBTITLES and turn it ON. Tap on the PLAY button to review the segment. Click on the BACKto go back to the SEGMENT LIST.

  14. CREATE A SEGMENT – SEGMENT 3 Click on the ADD button.

  15. CREATE A SEGMENT – SEGMENT 3 Type in “Opening” as the SEGMENT NAME. Select TRAILER as the SEGMENT TYPE. Select yourself under ASSIGN TO and click on the OK button.

  16. SEGMENT 3 – TRAILER Select the “Weather Climate You” trailer. Go back to SEGMENT LIST.

  17. CREATE A SEGMENT – SEGMENT 4 Click on the ADD button.

  18. CREATE A SEGMENT – SEGMENT 4 Type in “Weather Report” as the SEGMENT NAME. Select VOICEOVER IMAGES as the SEGMENT TYPE. Select yourself under ASSIGN TO and click on the OK button.

  19. SEGMENT 4 – VOICEOVER IMAGES Click on the Add Local Files button to add the images you want for your report. Drag an image to the desired position.

  20. SEGMENT 4 – VOICEOVER IMAGES Type your text on the teleprompter (write your own weather report). Select WEBCAM and turn OFF. Design the segment. RECORD . During recording, click on the Image to move to the next one. PLAY the segment to review the recording. Go back to SEGMENT LIST.

  21. CREATE A SEGMENT – SEGMENT 5 Click on the ADD button.

  22. CREATE A SEGMENT – SEGMENT 5 Type in “Ending” as the SEGMENT NAME. Select TEXT INSERT as the SEGMENT TYPE. Select yourself under ASSIGN TO and click on the OK button.

  23. SEGMENT 5 – TEXT INSERT Type your text in the textbox (as shown). Set TEXT FONT COLOR to YELLOW. Change TEXT LABEL STYLE to SEMI-TRANSPARENT. Set TEXT LABEL COLOR to BLUE. Set TEXT DURATION to 10 seconds. Set TEXT ANIMATION to SCROLL.

  24. SEGMENT 5 – TEXT INSERT Design this segment. Select MUSIC and turn ON. Then select a background music in the LIBRARY. PLAY the segment to review the setting. Go back to SEGMENT LIST.

  25. SAVE AND PREVIEW ALL Click on SAVE TO CLOUD to save your project online. You are then able to retrieve this project on another device that runs NewsMaker to continue working on it. Click on PREVIEW ALL to preview the entire project.

  26. PREVIEW ALL Click on the PLAYbutton to playthe entire project from the first segment to the last.

  27. PUBLISH Click on PUBLISH to publish the video online. After the video is published, it can be viewed at www.NewsMaker.tv. It may take about 10 to 15 minutes before the video appears in your online digital portfolio account.

  28. CONGRATULATIONS! You have just created your first NewsMaker video.
