Week of December 17th • Mrs. GrandonNext week in 116: • Phonics – y as a vowel • Math– line plots, points on a grid, review and test this week,math facts this week: 7+8, 8+7, 5+3 and 3+5 • Reading – (Week of December 17th, January 3rd and 4th) “Music of the Stone Age” (nonfiction selection) author’s purpose, “Click Clack Moo” cause and effect and making predictions • Writer’s Workshop – Identifying the parts of a story, begin writing a story. • Social Studies – Mrs. Prextais a guest speaker this week, Christmas activities, and different holidays and cultures. • Handwriting – cursive writing lower case a Long i and o Spelling Words: right find light show own boat mind nighthigh throw goat float Bonus Words: fighting grown throat Vocabulary Words: furious neutral emergency impatient demand sincerely Reminders: Junie B. Jones play was so much fun! We had lots of laughter! Polar Express on Thursday. Don’t forget to wear your jamies! Students will probably have outdoor recess that day. Please wear shoes and dress warm for recess . Christmas party is on the 21st. Our Christmas wreath of kind deeds is filling up fast. Our students have been showing their Christmas spirit! Don’t forget to encourage your child to read over the break. Encourage your child to read aloud to you and discuss the book together. You may be surprised by their growth. Keep studying those math facts. We are seeing some great progress. Valerie was a grand star!Ethanis our star next week. No school from December 24th – January 2nd.
