Girlguiding Retention report – the story so far (girls) Initial Findings Rainbows 40% leave 57% leave at transition Brownies 70% leave 49% leave at transition Guides 86% leave 25% leave at transition Average age of leaving: Rainbows is 6.9 Brownies is 9.6 Guides is 12.9 Average length of time in guiding for girls is 2.6 years, for adults is 18 months! 38% of girls stay longer than three years On average we lose 65,000 members every six months.
Girlguiding Retention report – the story so far GirlguidingLaSER adult retention snapshot • Half had an immediate response from Join Us, half waited 3 weeks to one month • Half were parents wanting to join along with daughters, or had been members when they were young • Half said the expectations of them and their role were made clear • Induction could be improved, for example by offering a visit to another unit for experience • A quarter said that a lot of ‘spin’ was put onto roles when signing up and the reality turned out to be different – more time, more paperwork etc • Half were offered training, ranging from first aid to Division section training, some said training locations were too far from their area • A quarter hadn’t received any thanks or recognition “Bear with the people who have never done it before, and offer them support and advice”
