  13. CONFLICTS

  14. “Unfriendly Natives” • Native Americans sometimes tried to resist or fight the Pioneers settling near their villages. • Think critically: Is is fair for us to call the Native American Indians “unfriendly”? Europeans were coming in and taking over the land. How would you feel if outsiders started moving into your neighborhood and change everything? Would you be friendly?

  15. Food/Water Shortages • They did not have any grocery stores in the wild west!

  16. Disease • It was hard to stay healthy while traveling a trail to the west!

  17. Weather It is hard to hide from the rain on a trail. Wagons got stuck in the mud! Without modern rain gear, people got soaking wet. In the winter you might catch pneumonia from that!

  18. So, for conflicts you should have written down: 1. Unfriendly Natives 2. Food/Water shortages 3. Disease 4. Weather

She said “it was meant to be, its manifest destiny.” Do think the rest of the world, or even the rest of the people in America agreed with this?
