    1. The MSC.Software Simulation Data Management Initiative Boma Koko Senior Director

    2. Introduction What our customers are saying They have defined a requirement for simulation data management (Business Problem Statement) PDM and other solutions do not address these requirements by themselves MSC.Software has a unique understanding of simulation tools and processes MSC.Software has established the SDM initiative to address these issues

    3. Need for SDM

    4. Business Problem Statement CAE simulation needs correct, auditable input data - and generates copious output data. Accessing and compiling simulation information from disparate sources incurs substantial time (cost) penalties, and is fraught with inaccuracies. Design knowledge must be captured and managed for re-use. Knowledge needs to be accessible globally via the web. (‘Design anywhere, build anywhere’.)

    5. Value of SDM Increased efficiency ? simulation process improvement Improved access to appropriate source data Higher simulation throughput More time for engineering/innovating, less time for “bookkeeping” Repeatable and consistent simulation methods More reliable simulations because the process is less error prone Increased effectiveness ? impact on PLM process Enhanced visibility and easy access to simulation results Enhanced collaboration, engineering decision and risk assessment support Simulation-based product development (driven by product performance and function)

    6. The Role of SDM

    7. Simulation Data Management

    8. Strategic Objectives of Initiative Provide CAE information corporate wide (Easy web-based access and results publishing) Support process integration (ERP, PDM, functional data management, other enterprise systems, …) Enable simulation information re-use (Consistent definitions, Sharing, …)

    9. Why MSC? World-class Simulation Expertise Unique context-management technology World-class PDM expertise Established provider of simulation- specific content/knowledge management (materials, loads, test, …) Our Vision!

    10. Simulation Based Product Development

    11. MSC.Software SDM Offerings SDM is comprised of software, systems and services Software: MSC.CPD Environment for concept design MSC.Virtual Insight for managing crash and NVH processes MSC.Mvision for managing materials data Systems: Server hardware and software for turnkey solutions Services: Implementation and deployment Customization
