What is JODI? • Stands for Joint Oil Data Initiative • A concrete outcome of the oil producer-consumer dialogue • Initiative between 7 international organisations to improve oil data transparency and harmonisation • Monthly oil data collection through a common oil supply questionnaire from more than 90 countries assembled in a world database.

JODI Manual Definitions of products and flows are the heart of the manual, however it also includes chapters on: Data verification methods Examples of practices from participating countries The JODI questionnaire and database The JODI manual is translated into other languages than English: Spanish, French, and Russian version are available; Arabic is under preparation The JODI manual is a live document and feedback is an essential element in the drive for progress

Kerosene is also used for cooking and lighting in Asia, Africa and Latin America, so the need to differentiate jet kerosene from other kerosene NGL and Other Non crude production have been added Addition of a few technical flows to be able to make a full oil balance Naphtha accounts for a large share of other products, so the need to have a special column to report naphtha Extending the current questionnaire: a response to user’s needs to have more information and a full oil balance However, countries still have the possibility of submitting the current format

Lessons From the Initiative • A lot can be achieved by working together • A close interaction between organisations, countries and the industry is key to move a process • Political backing is essential • Improving data transparency will not happen over night • Transparency will not happen without full participation of all parties
