What Do I Talk About In My Presentation? • Introduction – Catchy Opening, Background, Thesis • Main topics from your research paper – presented in an interesting, creative way • Background • Pros of your topic (arguments on one side) • Cons of your topic (arguments on the other side) • Conclusion – your opinion on the controversy, what you learned, how the Senior Project will impact your future
What Can I Do For My Visual? • PowerPoint • Prezi • Accompanying Handout • Video • Whole presentation cannot be a video! You still need to talk for 10-15 minutes! • Tri-fold board • Large enough that the entire class can see and read the info on your board

A Few Miscellaneous Questions • Who grades me? • Your English teacher • What if my guests misbehave? • Your grade will be affected. After all, you invited them! • Do I really have to dress up? • Yes. You are graded on your professionalism. Part of that is your appearance.
More Miscellaneous Questions • What if I get bored during someone else’s presentation? • Your grade will be affected. You will lose 1% from your own presentation every time you: • Fall asleep • Are late to class without a pass • Talk during someone’s presentation • Interrupt during question/answer/discussion • Use a phone
More Miscellaneous Questions • Do setup, cleanup, and questions count towards my 10 minutes of presentation? • No. You must speak for 10 to 15 minutes • Will I get a time check? • Yes. You will get a time check at 8 and 9 minutes. • What if I’m not here on my presentation date? • Presentations are not rescheduled. Be in school on the day you are scheduled.
More Miscellaneous Questions • What happens if I come late to class? • Wait quietly outside. You will be admitted to class once the first presenter has finished • What if I don’t speak for 10 minutes? • You have not met the minimum requirements and will not pass your presentation. • You will have another shot. You must present again after school to a team of administrators, English teachers, and me. • Any other questions?
