Project Proposal Choose a topic based on Academy interests and career goals. Contact your assigned faculty member and begin scheduling meeting dates. Contact a community member and set up a field experience. Complete the project proposal form and turn it in. All areas must be completed for credit.
Advisor Meeting and Field Experience Log • Use to document your meetings with your advisor and field experience hours • Must be signed by advisor and supervisor • 4 hours of field experience is required (more is encouraged)
Artifacts • Required to obtain 6-10 artifacts during field experience • 3 of the artifacts must be photographs • At location, with mentor, etc. • Other artifacts can be pamphlets, flyers, or a business card • Check ahead for restrictions on photographing due to privacy laws
Artifacts Document your field experience using photographs and items from your experience in your presentation. • Brochure (optional) • Introduce yourself • Relevant research • Job Shadowing/Volunteering • Sources in MLA format
Research Paper • Source Selection • Note Cards • Outline • Rough Draft • Final Draft 5-7 pages/1500-2000 words MLA format 5-9 sources: 2 Internet (.gov,.edu, .org), 1 article, 1 book, 1 interview
Interview • Interview your community member • Be professional • Record the interview • Write up a report • Use quotes in your paper
Presentation • You will create a presentation for your class and a panel of judges • The presentation is to be 6 to 8 minutes in length • You may include 2 minutes of video into your speech; however, you must speak for a minimum of 5 minutes. • The main purpose of the presentation is to inform your audience on what you have learned about your topic.
Presentation • Your presentation will be evaluated on the following: • Content • Delivery • Visuals/Technology • Learning Stretch • Time • Appearance • Judges’ Questions
Required Assignments • Resume – List of your accomplishments and work/volunteer experiences • Project Proposal – Lists your topic, advisor, and mentor • Sources/Notes – Evidence of organized note-taking • Research Paper – Clean copy of your final paper • Job Shadowing/Volunteering Log • Advisor Meeting Log • Letter to the Judges/Brochure– Introduce yourself and briefly preview your project • Artifacts – Visual display of your job shadowing or volunteering activity • Reflection – 1 page/250 word statement of your experiences and learning stretch
Senior Project • Meet with a faculty advisor and a community member • Complete a field experience that is at least 4 hours • Become the expert on your topic • Give a professional presentation to a panel of judges • Practice real-world skills • Gain valuable real-world connections during the field experience • Get feedback from community members • Feel a sense of pride and accomplishment
