  3. Jacksonian Era • Presidents came from western states such as Tennessee and Ohio • “spoils system” often used to fill cabinet positions • Manhood suffrage allowed all white males to vote • Inaugurations were noisy and chaotic

  4. Impact of Jackson’s Election 1. Signaled a shift of power to the common man (eliminated property ownership for voting, rise of the common man because of expanded suffrage rights) 2.
