Unit Purpose To promote the Principles of lifelong learning within the eThekwini Municipality area, by providing comprehensive and extensive human capital development strategies and interventions in order to ensure compliance with the skills development act and other legislative mandates

INK MST PROJECT Participants: Maths and Science Awareness for over 30000 leaners • Grade 10- 11 – 12 - 200 Learners • Grade 10-11 – 12 - 30 Teachers SDB Learner Excellence -300 learners Beneficiaries • INK MST Grade 10/ 11 /12 Teachers & Learners
INK MST cont. Success Indicators: • Increased academic performance in language, mathematics, science and technology subjects • 65% average pass rate achieved • Attendance rate 80% attained • Increased parent involvement • Increased teacher performance and attendance • Conduct life skills to balance of social life and academic life • Provide career guidance/talks and career excursion • Bursaries were awarded to top MST learners who are currently studying towards an Electrical Engineering funded by the Electricity Unit(BscElectronics,Computer Engineering)
FIRE FIGHTING LEARNERSHIP Participants: • 2005 - 30 Females ( Pioneer project received an award) • 2007/08 40 Males • 2008/09 76 Males • 2010 66 (39 Males & 27 Females)

Law Enforcement (LEF) 1 - 32008 - 2011 LEF 1 • 200 unemployed Youth – all employed 82 Females and 118 males = 200 : 100% success rate LEF 2 314 unemployed youth - all employed 169 females and 145 males = 314 : 100% success rate LEF 3 287 unemployed youth – all employed 129 Females and 158 males = 287 (285 were employed) 98% success rate
Internal Audit Learnership Participants • 8 Females & 13 Males - 2007 – 2009 • 7 Females & 5 Males - 2010 – 2012 Beneficiaries • Unemployed graduates with Diploma in Auditing Success Indicators • 2007 – 2009 - 90% employed • 2010 – 2012 - 25% employed
FEMALE LIFEGUARDS Participants 11 Females Beneficiaries Unemployed youth with grade 10 – 12 Partial Success Indicators Completed training and have not yet secured permanent employment but have been getting seasonal lifeguard jobs since finishing training in 2010
Interns and Inservice for Graduates We offer 18 month or more Internship for various disciplines In-service for student that wish to graduate These services have resulted in increased employability of students Work readiness improved by the exposure Workplace benefited from young innovativeness
