    3. History of Mission For many years mission San Rafael Arcŕngel was forgotten. San Raphael’s church, preserving the name of the mission in English, stood on the same site finally a chapel, built to resemble existing pictures of the old mission church. It was crowded onto Raphael’s property. It was founded on December 14, 1817. It was founded by Father Vincente de Sarria. It is located in San Rafael California. Also,it is the twentieth mission found.

    4. Interesting Facts It was first a hospital before a mission, helping people with many diseases. It’s nickname is ‘Mission of Bodily Healing.’ This mission soon disappeared after it was built, a replica was built on the same site.

    5. Special Features There is very little of the original structure that remains. On Foundation Day ,26 people were baptized. It’s Indian name is Nanaguami.
