  1. Antiproton source startup report Will not cover: Lots of shutdown activity completed safely & on time by many people http://www-bdnew.fnal.gov/pbar/documents/August%202004%20shutdown%20update%2011-15-04.pdf Detailed analysis of FY04 performance and FY05 stacking improvements/studies planned http://beamdocs.fnal.gov/DocDB/0014/001485/001/Run2comm120204.pdf Bill Ashmanskas Dec 17, 2004

  2. Startup has gone well so far You are here Shot 3821 Dec 7 Pilot shot to MI Dec 6 First beam Nov 28

  3. Stacking at close to August 2004 levels Red = Aug 1-23 Blue = Dec 9-16

  4. Shots: before vs. after shutdown

  5. Recent progress • P1,P2,AP1,AP3 corrector strengths re-measured • Software for Debuncher improvements tested out • Running wave; beam prep; component centering • Debuncher transverse gain ramping tuned up • emittances 25-30% smaller at 2 seconds • 4-8 GHz PU + cryo amps cleanly measure cooling progress • Instrumentation: • Forward pbars visible on all D/A SEMs • Forward pbars seen (when bunched) on D/A BPMs • Progress with accumulator flying wires • New AP2 BPM board has recorded its first beam signals • Debuncher barrier bucket AWG tested OK

  6. Debuncher vertical emittance vs time in cycle

  7. Scanning Debuncher transverse cooling gains Horizontal emittance vs time in cycle Vertical emittance vs time in cycle

  8. Recent glitches • Dec 4 A:LQ power supply ribbon cable failed • Dec 7 A:ISEP1 power supply card failed • Dec 12 A:R1LCAP incident • Protection implemented against huge bucket areas • Dec 4 & 16: accumulator damper ENI amps failed • Dec 17: no reading on TOR910 during shot setup • Numerous cases of wrong saved settings restored when switching to/from stacking

  9. Upcoming work • Optimize stacktail phasing and gains with beam • Continue to improve Debuncher apertures • Follow through on plans for D/A and AP2 lines • Get more of our stacking diagnostics read out / logged all of the time • Expand the range of tuning/studies that can be done while stacking • Given good knobs and good measurements of progress, operators can do magic • Stack at 18 E10/hr ASAP
