  4. Module Objectives Describe the Unbundled Dark Fiber (UDF)Product : • Define UDF • Name four UDF Product Offerings • Cite the Benefit of UDF

  5. UDF Unbundled Dark Fiber (UDF) is a deployed, unlit strand or pair of fiber optic cable that connects two points within Qwest's network.

  6. UDF Product Offering #1 UDF is a single, existing transmission path between two Qwest Wire Centers (UDF-IOF),...

  7. UDF Product Offering #2 ...between a Qwest Wire Center and a CLEC Wire Center (E-UDF),...

  8. UDF Product Offering #3 ...between a Qwest Wire Center and an appropriate outside plant structure or an end user customer premise (UDF-Loop),...

  9. UDF ... within the same LATA and state

  10. UDF Deployed UDF facilities will terminate on a Qwest Fiber Distribution Panel (FDP) or equivalent.

  11. UDF Offering #4 UDF Subloop is a fractional portion of the UDF Loop that is available via a combination of splice points and FDP connections.

  12. UDF Offering Summary • UDF Interoffice Facility (UDF-IOF) • UDF-Loop • UDF Sub-loop • Extended UDF (E-UDF)

  13. Conditions Refer to your Interconnection Agreement or the state specific SGAT to determine availability of E-UDF, if E-UDF is not available UDF-IOF will be offered instead. In states where E-UDF is offered as UDF-IOF, no splicing will be allowed between the Qwest Wire Center and your wire center

  14. Conditions Inquiries for the availability of Unbundled Dark Fiber can be made prior to collocation order. A CLEC may reserve UDF up to 6 months without a collocation.

  16. Product Diagram UDF, Qwest Central Office to Qwest Outside Plant Structure (OSP)

  17. Product Diagram UDF-Loop, Qwest Central Office to your end-user premise

  18. Benefits of UDF UDF offers you unlimited bandwidth availability. With placement of your electronics your end-users can expand bandwidth from OC3 to OC192 and such higher bandwidths that evolve over time.

  19. Availabilityof UDF UDF is available throughout Qwest's 14-state local service territory when spare fibers are available in the same Local Access Transport Area (LATA). 'Spare' means fibers beyond those that would be normally held back for maintenance(5% of fibers in a sheath) and approved jobs.
