  2. Aviation in Hawai’i • Between 1,200 to 1,500 flights a day • Commercial, tour, military, and general aviation flights • Nearly all flights take place over water. • Critical refueling point for ferry pilots shuttling small aircraft between the west coast and the south Pacific or Asia.

  3. WFO HONOLULU DOMESTIC AVIATION FORECAST AREA • Main Hawaiian Islands and waters within 40 nm of the coastline (90 percent over water) • Local Hawaiian Flights from Sea level to just under 14,000 ft. • Approximately 50 percent of land area over 2000 feet

  5. WFO HONOLULU INTERNATIONAL AVIATION FORECAST AREA • That portion of the Oakland Oceanic Flight Information Region south of 30N. • Over 8 million square nautical miles • SIGnificant METeorological Advisories (SIGMETs) • AIRman’s Meteorological Advisories (AIRMETs)

Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts(TAFs) WFO Honolulu issues TAFs for nine airports across the main Hawaiian Islands, Pago Pago in American Samoa, and Midway Island • PHNY – Lanai • PHMK – Molokai • PHJH – Kapalua • PMDY – Midway • NSTU - Samoa • PHNL – Honolulu • PHJR – Kalaeloa • PHLI - Lihue • PHOG- Kahului • PHTO- Hilo • PHKO- Kona

  8. Route Forecasts (ROFORs) • Coded route forecasts for regularly scheduled flights. Issued several hours in advance of the scheduled departures. • Routine ROFORs issued include - Santa Barbara, CA to Honolulu (Twice daily) - San Francisco, CA to Honolulu (Twice daily) - Majuro to Kwajalein (Once daily) - Tarawa to Majuro (Once weekly)

Area Forecasts (FAs) • Provides an overview of weather conditions that impact aviation operations • Serves as a flight planning and pilot weather briefing aid • Issued four times daily forMain Hawaiian Islands and waters within 40 nm of the coastline • Requirements for other areas must be identified to FAA
