  4. Why is communication important? IV. Effective Communication The employee communicates and engages effectively with students, parents, peers, and supervisors. Indicators: • A. Responds professionally and in a timely manner to meet the needs of all customers. • B. Communicates, orally and in writing, in a friendly, positive, accurate and professional manner. • C. Fosters communication for purposes of collaboration on work assignments. • D. Interacts positively with his/her supervisor, follows direction easily, and seeks suggestions for improvement.

Top 10 List forSuccess • Ask questions about assignments. • Compliment each other about work that is well done. • Do not take each other for granted. • Show a sincere interest in one another’s work. • Adhere to the teachers standards of classroom behavior. • Be loyal to teachers, students, administrators, and TA/EAs. • Discuss problems with the appropriate personnel. • Know and observe the school rules. • Avoid criticizing other TA/EAs or teachers. • Offer your services to the teacher and develop a friendly attitude.

  15. For the last four days a fellow educator has parked her car so close to the driver's side of your car that you have to enter from the passenger side.

  16. You keep snacks in your desk to eat at school. Your principal regularly helps himself to these without asking, often consuming all of them.

  17. Part of your assignment as the TA/EA has been to go with a student to a regular classroom and assist. The regular teacher has made a commitment to allow this student more time to take the tests given in class. However, this is not practiced in the classroom. The student is now failing.

  18. A classroom teacher has promised to hold regular conferences with you to discuss planning for students and how you should record student progress on jointly planned interventions. This has not occurred and you are very concerned.

  20. . A fellow TA/EA talks in a negative manner about her job while the two of you are eating lunch in the lounge.

  21. Your next door neighbor says, “Hey, I heard you are working at the school. Is Mrs. Jones really as awful as people say she is? And what about that funny looking kid?”
