Technology Workstream • Formed from the Data & eEnablement and IT & Telecoms workstreams in April 2013 • New Workstream Lead, David Byrne, will join LPP at the end of March, bringing 25 years experience in IT Procurement and Systems.
Challenges facing the NHS IT Procurement • Variations in trust IT services : outsourced or internal • Rapidly evolving technology and software upgrades • Security and network requirements • Decentralised technology requirements : expansion of stakeholder and key user groups • Hardware and software support and maintenance • Ensuring systems and technology are fit for purpose
Collaboration and the NHS CIO Council • "Our Mission is to provide clinicians and patients with accurate and timely information which will lead to the delivery of better healthcare. This will be through collaboration across the London trusts and local authorities by demonstrating leadership in the management of information and technology.“ • Open to all CIO’s from London Trusts, as well as representatives from the Chief Clinical Information Officer network, HSCIC and NHS England
Collaboration with other procurement bodies • Whilst ensuring that frameworks are fit for purpose, working with CCS and other procurement bodies, allows LPP members to benefit from competitive pricing achieved across the public sector • LPP must be instrumental in the development of IT frameworks and incorporate specific NHS requirements • Ultimately LPP members will benefit from improved leverage and better engagement with key suppliers in the market
