Delayed Kindergarten Start • No clear academic benefits. • Achievement of delayed entrants comparable to similar ability peers in elementary school. • By High School, delayed entrants perform significantly worse on group standardized achievement tests than similar ability peers. • Delayed entrance associated with increased rates of behavior problems. • Impact on Hawaii’s Student Weighted Formula
