“a” is used with “ir” to say someone is going to a specific place.Voy a la casa. I’m going home.When the place you are going is masculine combine “a” and “el” to form the word “al”.Voy al gimnasio. I’m going to the gym.

My parents are going to the office. Mis padres van a la oficina.
