Doctrine of Premillennialism Teach that O.T. prophecies about a Messiah and his Kingdom is an earthly kingdom. First coming was to set up this earthly kingdom. Israelites rejected Jesus and set up the church. Believe Christ will return to earth and set up His earthly Kingdom with Jerusalem as capitol and reign for 1,000 years.
Doctrine of Premillennialism Rapture- secret snatching away of the church. Tribulation - 7 years of persecution 3 ½ years of peace - rebuild temple Anti-Christ sit in temple End with battle of Armageddon Kingdom set up Christ returns to earth Rules for 1,000 years
Premillennialism Summary of Doctrine • Christ came to set up kingdom • Failed - Israel rejected Him • Coming back to correct failure • Reign on earth 1,000 years
Doctrine of Premillennialism before doctrine of Pre-millennial-ism False 1,000
Premillennialism is False Kingdom established after death of Christ Mt.4:17 “the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Mk.9:1 - some there would not die until they saw the kingdom come with power Acts 2 - the power came on Pentecost
Premillennialism is False Kingdom established after death of Christ Mt.16:18-19 - church and kingdom same thing Acts 2:47 - “Lord added to the church” Col.1:13 - early Christians were in the kingdom Eph.3:10-11 - church was not an afterthought
“Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.” John 18:36
Premillennialism is False • Rapture theory is False • 1 Thes.4:13-14 nothing about a secret coming • The word “rapture” is not in the Bible • Has 3 comings of Jesus - not one
Premillennialism is False • Rapture theory is False • Contradicts Bible teaching • Acts 1:9-11 - come back in same way • Rev.1:7 - He will be seen • 2 Pet.3:10-11 - He will be heard
Premillennialism is False Tribulation theory is False Matt. 24:21 “For then shall be great tribulation” v.16 - disciples to flee to the mountains v.20 - flight from Jerusalem not in winter This tribulation was the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD John 16:33b “...in the world ye shall have tribulation” = affliction, persecutions, distress
Premillennialism is False • Interpretation of Revelation 20 is False • Does not mention: • Second coming • Israel • Throne of David • Establishment of kingdom • Jerusalem • Reign of Jesus on Earth • Rapture not mentioned Figurative - bottomless pit, 1,000 years
Premillennialism is False False Idea of Land Promise to Jews Land promise already fulfilled Gen. 17:8 - promise Josh. 21:43-45 - fulfilled “And the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.” v. 43
The Coming of Christ The Bible does not teach that Christ will ever set foot on this earth again The theory that Christ will return to this earth for a thousand years is not taught in the Bible !! We must be prepared for the next coming.
1 Thes.4:16. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 1 Thes.4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
