Using SDA to Create Display Files By Sally Tilstra 2003-2004
Tips for using the workscreen • Use your scroll keys to move the cursor, not enter or backspace • If you need to change something, use the arrow keys to place the cursor where the correction needs to be made and type over or space bar over. Do not use delete. • Once a change is made and is satisfactory, be sure to press enter before doing an F3 or your work will not be saved.
Press F10 to enter file info, 1 will list the database fields
Type &1 on the screen in the location for the field and press Enter….
Tips regarding characters on fields: • 3 means it is numeric input only • 6 means it is numeric output only • 9 means it is numeric, both input & output • I means it is character, input only • O means it is character, output only • B means it is character, both input and output
Tips regarding attributes • The space immediately preceding the field(s) is called the attribute field. • F20 reverse highlights the screen field, including any preceding blank spaces.
Other tips • Use == instead of = to copy rather than move • Attribute field code area immediately precedes the field
Position Fields on Screen using & followed by the field number
