Step 1: Adding an Item • Click on the Button “Add Item” • The next slide will show you the next screen

Step 2: Inserting Text from a Word Document • Switch to HTML Mode by clicking on the link

Adding a New Item: note! • You will lose any formatting in HTML mode, such as paragraph breaks, bold, or italics. • Time saver tip! To preserve your paragraph breaks, enter </P> any place where paragraphs should begin (still in HTML Mode)
Step 3: Format Text Toolbar is visible only in Normal Mode.
Step 2. Click here to insert a hyperlink Step 1. Highlight text to be hyperlinked. Step 3. Enter your web address here starting with: http://www.... Step 4. click OK.
Helpful Keyboard Shortcuts When in Normal Mode: • Shift + Enter = Single-spaced line breaks • Control + U = Underline • Control + B = Bold • Control + I = Italics • Control + X = Cut • Control + C = Copy • Control + V = Paste

Step 4: Uploading Attachments The following items can be uploaded to the website: • Sidebar • Related link • Image • Document • Audio • Video • Snap poll • Image Gallery • Message Forum
Attaching a Document • Word and PDF are some common documents to attach • Attached documents appear on the bottom of the webpage
Attaching a Document Step 1. Click onDocument and click Add New. Step 2. Click Browse to locate your document. Step 3. Click Upload.
Formatting the Attached Document Step 4. Add a Title and Description. Step 5. Click Apply.
Attaching an Image • TIF and GIF pictures are some common images to attach • An image defaults to the top corner • You may add a caption below the image

Attaching a Related Link • You may attach a hyperlink to another website, along with a description • Related Links appear at the bottom of the webpage.

After Adding a New Item • E-mail stopvaw@mnadvocates.org to notify us that a new item has been added. • Provide the following information: • Where you would like item to be placed (as a distinct item below the section text or as part of the section text) • Whether you would like your item to replace existing text
After Adding a New Item • The STOPVAW Administrator will do one of three things with the new item you enter: • Turn on the item to appear exactly as it was entered below the main text of the section; • Copy the text and incorporate it within existing text in the section, or • Replace existing text with your new item.
Helpful Hints • Save often. If your computer or internet crashes, you will lose all work completed during that session. • If you make a major mistake, and need to “undo” your work, click “cancel” and all work completed during that session will be lost.
Contributing to What’s New Adding to News Section for Country Page Creating Archives The VAW Monitor Newsletter
Citation Style • Always provide citation (use terms, “Adapted From” and “From”); create hyperlink to source if possible • Research and Report Format (Citation, followed by 2-3 sentence description) • See Style Sheet in Manual, Pages 20-22.
Archiving News Items Child section (subsection) • You can archive news items as a separate child section under What’s New of the Country Page • Add as items according to month. Items

Contributing to The VAW Monitor Newsletter • STOPVAW emails electronic versions of the VAW Monitor Newsletter on the first of every month to over 170 subscribers worldwide. • STOPVAW will usually include NVAW Monitor contributions and postings • Submit other newsletter contributions and additions to the distribution list to stopvaw@mnadvocates.org.
Managing the Message Board Monitoring the Message Board Mentoring Using the Message Board
Using the Message Board • Monitor the Message Board regularly • Respond to Messages Through Message Board • Mentor by Using the Message Board • Coordinate with NWP and STOPVAW Administrators
Monitoring the Message Board • Access a Message by clicking on the subject title • You may access the e-mail address of the sender if you click on the indicated name.
Mentoring Using Message Board • Click on the title of the message to access that forum; fill out the yellow section to post a message in that forum. • Click on name of message board user and you will create a personal e-mail message to her.
Responding to Messages • Indicate your position of National VAW Monitor in message for display to website users. • Respond with an eye to providing resources and to continuing a discussion.
Contact STOPVAW Administrator or NWP when... • Responding to a request (Administrator may know of am appropriate expert to provide response) • There is inappropriate commentary on the Message Board • You have a question about the Content Management Tool
